Build a Business in 48 Hours

HackATL is the most prominent business hackathon in the Southeast, attracting 1,000+ students from top undergraduate programs across the United States since its establishment in 2013.  This year, we want to extend the HackATL experience to as many students as possible. For the first time in our history, we will be hosting the event virtually via Devpost in order to ensure safety and accessibility for all involved.

The participants are given 48 hours to develop a prototype and pitch it to judges, angel investors, and venture capitalists. At HackATL, we aim to create innovative solutions that cater to the world’s most pressing issues. With your partnership, we hope to make this year’s HackATL the best one yet!

This year’s theme is Adventure is Out There. The goal is to encourage our hackers to explore the unconventional. Especially during these unprecedented times, we want to encourage our participants to develop breakthroughs that will tackle the challenges our world is currently facing—whether it be an app enhancing public health safety, a product advocating for social justice, or a platform connecting small businesses to their respective communities. Help us inspire next-generation entrepreneurship amidst the brightest minds in the Southeast and beyond.

Eligibility

HackATL is open to teams of 2 to 6 people. All current undergraduate and graduate students with valid university emails are allowed to participate. Undergraduate students who have graduated within 6 months before HackATL can also participate.  While graduate students can participate in HackATL, we limit 1 graduate student per 2 undergraduate students. For example, a team of 6 may have no more than 2 graduate students.

Requirements

Submissions must include the team name used when registering your team and a description with the team members, a problem statement,  and which group it serves. Submissions should include at least a presentation slide deck and a prototype, or simulation where applicable, along with a proposal of next steps, the path forward, and a description of the necessary resources and plan to implement the project. Product or prototype video demonstrations are permitted and should be embedded in the presentation as a link to Youtube or Vimeo.

The submission requires a live presentation component. On the final day of HackATL, teams will conduct live remote presentations to judges for the preliminary round. Should the team advance to the final round, the team will conduct another live remote presentation on that same day to judges for the final round.

We only accept project submissions created during HackATL. Please do not submit previous projects or updates to projects that already exist or are already under development.

Submission must either be in English or include an English translation.

Participants may submit only one project. Each participant may only be a part of one team.

Please refer to the HackATL Education Packet featured on www.hackatl.org for additional resources.
